What is the Ni-kshay portal?
Ni-kshay is India’s online system for managing TB patients under the National TB Elimination Programme. It was launched in 2012 by the Central TB Division with the National Informatics Centre. The name joins two Hindi words, नि from निवारण (removal) and क्षय (TB), so it means “ending TB”.
Doctors, labs and health workers use Ni-kshay to record each TB patient, their tests and treatment, follow-ups and benefit payments. Patients do not log in to the main portal; they get a Ni-kshay ID and can use the TB Aarogya Sathi app.
- Every TB case diagnosed in India must be notified on Ni-kshay, including by private doctors.
- Notification links the patient to free medicines, tests and follow-up.
- It is how Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana money reaches the patient’s bank account.

Most people with drug-sensitive TB are treated for about 6 months, in two phases. TB is curable when the full course is taken.

Know the warning signs
The TB programme uses four main signs to decide who should be tested: cough for 2 weeks or more, fever for 2 weeks or more, night sweats and weight loss. Blood in the phlegm, chest pain and loss of appetite are other common signs. TB can also affect glands, bones, the spine, the brain, the abdomen and the skin.
If you have these signs, do not wait. A TB test at a government health facility is free.

Is this the official Ni-kshay portal?
No. This is an independent guide written to help patients and families. The official Ni-kshay portal is nikshay.in. We never ask for your Ni-kshay ID, mobile number, Aadhaar or bank details.
Can a patient log in to Ni-kshay?
The main Ni-kshay portal is used by health staff, labs and doctors. Patients can see their adherence, treatment progress and DBT payment details in the TB Aarogya Sathi app by logging in with their Ni-kshay ID and an OTP sent to their registered mobile. See Ni-kshay and TB Aarogya Sathi apps.
How much is Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana now?
Rs 1,000 for each month of treatment from 1 November 2024, up from Rs 500. It is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer in instalments. Read the full Poshan Yojana guide.
Is TB treatment really free?
Yes. TB tests and treatment are free at government health facilities, and patients who are notified while seeing a private doctor can also get free medicines and tests through the programme.
What is the TB helpline number?
Ni-kshay Sampark, the national TB helpline, is 1800-11-6666. It is toll free and gives counselling and support.
What is the Ni-kshay full form?
Ni-kshay is not an abbreviation. It joins नि (from निवारण, removal) and क्षय (TB), meaning ending TB. See Ni-kshay meaning.
