TB Mukt Bharat means a TB-free India. The Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, launched by the President of India on 9 September 2022, asks citizens, companies and communities to support people with TB, alongside the government programme.

What the Abhiyaan does
- Brings in Ni-kshay Mitras to give nutritional, diagnostic and vocational support to people with TB who agree.
- Makes TB elimination a people’s movement, with panchayats, schools, companies and volunteers.
- Since October 2024, extends food support to household contacts of TB patients.
Where India stands
The National Strategic Plan (2017 to 2025) aimed at an 80% cut in TB incidence and a 90% cut in deaths compared with 2015, and zero TB-affected households facing catastrophic costs, five years ahead of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal deadline. According to the WHO Global TB Report 2025, as reported in November 2025, TB incidence in India fell 21% from 2015 to 2024 (from 237 to 187 per lakh people), about twice the global rate of decline. India still has the largest number of TB cases in the world, so the work continues.
The 100-day campaign
The Health Ministry launched an intensified 100-day TB Mukt Bharat campaign on 7 December 2024, screening high-risk groups whether or not they had symptoms, using tools such as portable AI-enabled X-ray units.
