How much and for how long as of October 2026
The Health Ministry announced on 7 October 2024 that monthly NPY support would double from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 for the entire duration of treatment. NHM Uttarakhand’s scheme page states the Rs 1,000 rate applies from 1 November 2024 onwards. The Ministry estimated that patients would receive Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 in total, depending on how long they are treated.
| Treatment length | Typical for | Total at Rs 1,000 a month |
|---|---|---|
| 6 months | Most drug-sensitive TB | Rs 6,000 |
| 9 months | Some drug-resistant TB regimens, or longer drug-sensitive courses | Rs 9,000 |
| 12 months | Some brain or spine TB courses set by the doctor | Rs 12,000 |
These totals are simple estimates for months on treatment from November 2024. Your actual payments depend on your treatment period and are processed by your TB Unit.

Get notified
The health facility or private doctor who diagnoses your TB notifies you on Ni-kshay, and you get a Ni-kshay ID.
Give bank details at the health facility
One savings account per patient. If you do not have one, a parent, spouse or sibling’s account can be used with your written consent. A zero-balance India Post Payments Bank account is one option.
Staff validate the account
Bank details are entered in Ni-kshay and checked. Aadhaar can help but is not compulsory; you cannot be denied the benefit without it.
Benefit is generated and paid
Ni-kshay generates the benefit for your treatment months and it is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer in instalments.
Check in the app
Log in to TB Aarogya Sathi with your Ni-kshay ID and OTP to see payments made and due. See how to check payment status.
The 2020 DBT manual (written when the amount was Rs 500 a month) described an advance at notification followed by further instalments as treatment continued. After the 2024 increase we could not find the new instalment timetable on an official site, so we do not state one. Your TB Unit can tell you when each instalment is due.
Extra food support for underweight patients
Alongside the increase, the Ministry announced Energy Dense Nutritional Supplementation (EDNS) for all TB patients with a body mass index (BMI) below 18.5 at diagnosis, for the first two months of treatment. This is food support, not cash. Ask your health facility if you qualify.
Beware of fake calls and websites
- Health staff never ask you to pay money to “release” a Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana payment.
- Never share an OTP, ATM PIN or bank password with anyone, even if they say they are from the TB programme.
- Give bank details only in person at your TB programme health facility, never on a call, WhatsApp or an unknown website.
- If you were cheated, call the national cyber crime helpline 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in.
