How it is found
The ICMR workflow advises suspecting female genital TB in women with infertility, chronic pelvic pain or menstrual disturbance. Gynaecologists use tests on samples and imaging to look for it, so see a specialist rather than relying on a single test.
Treatment follows the national guidelines, usually the standard course. Many women can conceive after treatment, depending on how much the tubes were affected. See TB symptoms in women and TB in pregnancy.
Symptoms alone cannot tell you whether you have TB. If you have a cough or fever for 2 weeks or more, weight loss, night sweats or blood in your phlegm, go to your nearest government health facility and ask for a TB test. TB testing and treatment are free there.
